Of Bellefontaine died March 11, in Mary Rutan Hospital, there where he had been admitted the previous day. He had been ill the past year of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease).
He was born in Geneva, October 14, 1925, a son of Benjamin Franklin and Marion Pratt-Benton.
Surviving with his wife to whom he was married on October 6, 1945 are two sons, Billy and Donnie, two daughters, Mary Christine and Madeline; his father, a sister, Marianne Benton in his home and a sister Mrs. Tom Hollis, Anna and two brothers, Arthur Lewis Benton, stationed with the U. S. Army in Washington, D. C., and Benjamin Benton, Jr., Columbus. His mother died in 1947.
Funeral services were conducted March 14, in Bellefontaine. Burial was made in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Bellefontaine native, William Henri Benton, 49, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, Dec 5, 1996 at his1012 Park Road residence.
Born on Sept 27, 1947, he was an inventory control production manager.
The 1966 graduate of Bellefontaine High School married Sandra Pool on March 15, 1969 in Bellefontaine. She survives, along with his mother, Christine Vienot Benton Liford of Bellefontaine; one son, Troy William Benton of Bellefontaine; a daughter, Gina Kristine Benton of Blacksburg, VA; one grandson; a brother, Donald Benton of Marysville, and a sister, Mrs. Jim (Michelle) Dunn of Bellefontaine.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Pratt Benton; a son, Robie Dion Benton and sisters, Mary Chris Predmore and Madeleine Harford.
Mr. Benton was a member of the First Christian Church, past president of the Poplar Forest Men's Golf association in Forest, VA., and served as secretary of the Men's Bowling League in Bellefontaine from 1977 to 1979.
Pastor David Murdoch and Gene Marine will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, where calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (Lou Gehrig's disease) and Tricare Hospice.
