Alvin Benton was born in Hardin County, May 22, 1851, died April 28, 1912. Age 61 years, 11 months and 6 days. He was married to Miss Kate Maybery April 4, 1876 and to this union was born eleven children, one son and three daughters dying in infancy. He leaves a wife, four daughters and three sons, Mrs. Verna Wallace, Mrs. Wm. Hughes, Mrs. Wm. Pash and Ben Benton, all of Northwood, Mrs. Porter Mummey, of near Kenton, Ora Benton, of Rushsylvania and Lloyd Benton still at home. He also leaves two sisters and one brothers, Mrs. Levi Robinaugh and Mrs. Frank Robinaugh of Bellefontaine and Edward Benton, of DeGraff, together with many relatives and friends to mourn.

Obituary
Miss Kate Travis Mabrey was born March 26, 1857, daughter of Charley Travis and Sarah Ann Craven Mabrey at Homesburg, PA. She departed this life Thursday, August 17, 1938, at the home of her son, Benjamin F. Benton, 801 West Sandusky Avenue, Bellefontaine.
She was united in marriage in young womanhood to Alvin Benton on April 4, 1877. To this union were born 11 children, five of whom preceded her in death. All died in infancy except one daughter, Mrs. Sylva Wallace, who passed away August 3, 1932.
Mr. Benton also preceded her in death on April 28, 1912.
The children remaining are Ora Benton, of Piqua; Benjamin F., Floyd E. Benton, Mrs. Myrtle Hughes, Mrs. Leona Pash, all of Bellefontaine; Mrs. Iva Mummy, of near Kenton, Mrs. Benton also left two sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Dora McKinney of Covington, Ky.; Mrs. Elizabeth Gilbert, of Akron; John, Lewis and Albert Mabrey, of Kenton, and Homes of Ada. There are 34 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren living. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers, Mrs. Ann Burrey, Mrs. Rachel Bales, William, Charley and James Mabrey, her father and mother also one daughter-in-law preceded her in death. She also left two sister-in-law, Mrs. Matilda Robinaugh and Mrs. Jennie Robinaugh of Plumvalley Street, this city and a host of other relative and friends.
After the death of her son's wife she made her home with him till her death.

Mr. Frederick Lowell Wallace, 67, 508 Eddie Road, NE, Smyrna Beach, died Friday. A
native of Belle Center, Ohio, he moved to New Smyrna Beach 37 years ago from Ohio. He was a member of American Legion Post 17, New Smyrna Beach, and attended the Christian Missionary, Alliance Church, Edgewater. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired automobile mechanic. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Florence Marie; sister, Mrs. Mabel Johnson, Edgewater; brother, Alvin, Zanesville, Ohio. Obituary Former Resident Died in Piqua
Mrs. Ora Benton Had Been Sick But a Week; Burial Mad in Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Ora Benton died at her home in Piqua, Sunday evening following an illness of only a week.
Elsie May Oliphant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Oliphant was born in Union County on July 4, 1888. When quite young she came to Belle Center with her parents where she was united in marriage in early life with Ora Benton. Nine years ago the family moved to Piqua.
Left to mourn her departure are the husband, one son, Guilford Alfred Benton, her parents, one sister, Mrs. George Marlow of Piqua and one brother B. C. Oliphant of Belle Center.
She was a member of the Piqua Baptist church.
Funeral services were held at the home in that city Wednesday morning and the body brought to Belle Center for burial in Fairview cemetery.

MRS. W. R. HUGHES DIES
Native of Northwood Area Succumbs in Columbus
Mrs. Cora Myrtle Hughes, 70, widow of W. R. Hughes, formerly of Bellefontaine, died Monday at 11 p.m. in the home of a son, Harold Hughes, 2875 Alkire Road, Columbus, with whom she resided. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
She was born Sept. 23, 1882, in the Northwood community, a daughter of Alvin and Kate Benton.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters, Wilkie Hughes, Mrs. Edna Helton, Charles Wesley Hughes, all of Dayton, William Hughes of West Jefferson. Harold Hughes in whose home she died, and Mrs. Howard (Elda) Kauffman, 913 Rush avenue,. and Mrs. Harry (Mildred) John, 137 Prospect avenue, Bellefontaine. Remaining also are 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one brother, Ben Benton, and one sister, Mrs. Iva Mummey, both of Rushsylvania.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Kennedy funeral homes in charge of Rev. Harold Wyandt. Burial will be made in Belle Center Fairview cemetery.
Friends may call Thuesday evening and until time for the service at Mrs. John's home.

William and Myrtle lived on W. R. Hughes' farm near Payne, OH, from there to Ft. Wayne, IN; then Chicago; then Belle Center, OH. Were living in Bell Center in 1908; moved from there to Bellefountain, OH, First Street.
Then to 600 Cooper St.; then to the 4 or 5 hundred block of Cooper Street; from there to 5 acres on Eastern Ave.; from there to 816 Euclid St., Bellefountain, OH; from there to west of South Bend, IN; then back to (Euclid) St. in Bellefountain; then to Columbus; then to a farm on Hackelshin Rd., South of Byington, Ohio; from there to Dayton, OH; then back to Bellefountain, OH across from the airport; then next to Mildred and Harry John's in a trailer.
After William's death Myrtle moved to a small home on Harold Hughes' property and lived there for the rest of her life.
First Family Reunion held in 1947 at W. R. Hughes, Jr. home on Glade Run Road, West of West Jefferson, OH. W. R. Hughes only attended the first reunion as death occurred the following spring.
The first four years of records were lost and started again 19 Aug 1951. Reference for the reunions is from the "Reunion Record from Aug. 19, 1951; copied by Wilkie E. Hughes".

WILLIAM R. HUGHES DIES
Former Resident of Dayton Succumbs in Home of Daughter.
William R. Hughes, 63, died at 6 a.m. Sunday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johns, 137 Prospect Avenue. He had been ill several years of heart disease and his condition had been critical the past two weeks.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Hughes, Sr., he was born at Payne, in Paulding, in Paulding county, May 1, 1884. He was married to Cora Myrtle Benton, Dec. 25, 1905 and she remains with seven sons and daughters. They are Wilkie and Wesley Hughes of Dayton; Harold Hughes, Columbus; William Hughes, Jr., West Jefferson; Mrs. Johns, in whose home he died; Mrs. Hubert Helton, Dayton, and Mrs. Howard Kauffman, 905 Rush Avenue, Bellefontaine. There are also remaining 20 grandchildren; two brothers, Coral Hughes, of Larue and Wilkie Hughes of Williard; one half-brother, Dewey Hughes, of Detroit; one step-sister, Mrs. Nile Gephart, of Payne and one step-brother, Orla Huntuh, of Willard.
The deceased and his wife had resided in Bellefontaine upon different occasions, the last time returning about eight months ago from Dayton. In earlier life he was employed for 19 years by the Bellefontaine Bridge and Steel Company, later going to the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company in Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kennedy Funeral Home. In charge of Rev. A. C. Crockett, pastor of the Bellefontaine Gospel Tabernacle. Burial will be made in the cemetery at Belle Center.

Bellefontaine Resident Dies Monday Following Stroke; Burial Made Here.
Final rites were conducted this afternoon in the Kennedy Funeral home in Bellefontaine for Mrs. William C. Pash, 62, with the Rev. E. J. A. St. Louis officiating. Interment was made in the Belle Center-Fairview cemetery.
Mrs. Leona Pash, the daughter of Alvin and Kate Benton, born in this county on Sept. 28, 1885. She died at 7:50 p.m. Monday in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, where she was admitted Saturday after suffering a stroke of paralysis Friday evening at her home. She was married on July 4, 1900 to William C. Pash, who died on September 18, 1937.
Survivors include four sons Walter, Leonard and Edward Pash of Bellefontaine and Robert Pash of Oberlin; four daughters, Mrs. Everett Van Voorhis, Mrs. Isaac Brake, Mrs. Clarence Barger and Mrs. Joseph Dow of Bellefontaine; 24 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Hughes and Mrs. Iva Mummey, northwest of Bellefontaine; one brother Ben Benton of Bellefontaine, an aunt and several nieces and nephews.

Died at his home in Bellefontaine Saturday at 2:25 a.m. as the result of several weeks' illness from heart disease, dropsy and a complication of diseases. He was born near Huntsville and had spent a portion of his life on the farm and had been employed at a the Big Four shops in Bellefontaine. He was affiliated with the Brotherhood of Railroad Employees. He leaves the following children, Walter, William, Edward, Mrs. Clarence Barger of Springfield; Robert of Oberlin, Leonard of Ft. Bennington, GA.; Mrs. John Brake of Bellefontaine, Mrs. Everett Van Voorhis of Bellefontaine and Roberta at home. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. William H. Leasure of Rushsylvania and a brother, John, at home. Funeral services were held in the Kennedy funeral home in Bellefontaine Tuesday at 10 a.m. in charge of Rev. F. A. Holderman. Burial in the Harper cemetery.

Funeral Rites Are Held Saturday For Brother Of Mrs. Iva Mummey
Benjamin F. Benton, 72, a brother of Mrs. Iva Mummey, passed away last Wednesday at 3:40 p.m. in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine. Mr. Benton had been in failing health several years and had entered the hospital the day prior to his death for medical treatment. His condition had been considered serious since April.
A contractor-carpenter, he was born October 18, 1887, in Hardin County, a son of Alvin and Kate Maberry-Benton.
Survivors include two sons, Captain Arthur Benton, stationed in Washington, D.. C. with the U. S Army and Benjamin F. Benton, Jr. of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Juanita) Hollis of Bellefontaine, with whom the deceased resided and Mary Ann Benton, student at Malone College, Canton, presently in Bellefontaine; 13 grandchildren; and the sister, Mrs. Mummey.
His wife, Marian Pratt-Benton, died January 10, 1947 and his eldest son, Donald, on March 11, 1959.
The Rev. Harold Wyandt, pastor of the First Friends Church in Bellefontaine, conducted the final rites Saturday in the Kennedy Funeral Home in the county seat. Burial was made in the Belle Center-Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Glenn, Walter and W. Edward Pash, Tom Hollis, Amos Amerine, Jr. and W. Frank Wallace.

Rites Are Held Monday For Bellefontaine Woman; Burial Mad in Fairview Cemetery
Funeral services were held in the Kennedy funeral home, Bellefontaine, Monday afternoon at two o'clock for Mrs. Ben Benton, 42, Rev. Forrest Ashcraft, substitute pastor at the Church of God, officiated and burial was made in the Belle Center-Fairview cemetery.
In failing health for the past two months and critically ill for a week and a half, Marian Pratt-Benton passed away at her home near Bellefontaine Friday morning at 8:30. She was born on Oct. 7, 1904, in Oberlin, the daughter of Ernest and Nora Wellman-Pratt.
Marian Pratt became the bride of Benjamin Benton in 1922 and for a time they made their home in Springboro, Pa., before moving to the Bellefontaine neighborhood 18 years ago. She was an active member of the Chritian Science Society of Bellefontaine.
Remaining to mourn her demise are the husband; three sons, Donald Benton of Bellefontaine, Lt. Arthur Benton, en route to Yokohama and Benjamin, Jr. at home; two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Hollis and Marianne Benton, both at home; three grandchildren; and one brother, Harvey Pratt, of Oberlin.

OBITUARY Mrs. Porter Mummey; Claimed Saturday
Local Resident Never Recovers From Stroke; hold Funeral Services Tuesday
Mrs. Iva E. Mummey, 75 passed away Saturday in San Antonio Hospital, Kenton, where she had been confined since Labor Day. She was found about 6:30 that evening by her neighbors, Mr and Mrs. William Wright, on the floor in her home on South State Street, after they became concerned when she had not been see that day. At first it was thought she had attended a family reunion but when a basket of clothes, taken to her home to be washed, was left on the front porch, Mr. and Mrs. Wright decided to investigate. She had suffered a stroke of paralysis and was taken to the hospital for treatment. She had been in falling health a year.
Born August 16, 1890, in Logan County, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Benton. On November 8, 1910, she was married to Porter Mummey, who died July 15, 1959.
The deceased attended the Church of Christ.
She is survived by a son, Clyde Mummey of DeGraff, a daughter, Mrs. Denton (Blanche) Stieg of Rushsylvania, several grandchildren and great=grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by four sons, Nile N. Mummey on July 31, 1963; Diahl at the age of 42, Woodrow at 38 and Russell in infancy.
Mr. and Mrs. Mummey had moved to Belle Center in November 1957, residing here about a year. They then moved back to Rushsylvania, where they lived until February 7, 1959, when they moved into the Dr. Fred George house on North Center Street. They purchased the home on South State Street and moved May 17, 1959.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Kennedy Funeral Home in Bellefontaine with the Rev. Dennis C. Weaver, paster of the local Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was made in Wolf Creek Cemetery in Hardin County.

OBITUARY Porter D. Mummey Succumbs Yesterday
Local Resident dies after long illness: Services Saturday.
Months of suffering were ended around 9:30 last evening as Porter David Mummey, 70, passed away at his home here on South State Street. He had been in failing health two years and in critical condition eight months from cancer.
He had been hospitalized many times, undergoing surgery three times within three months, the last time being in January of this year. He was confined in San Antonio Hospital, Kenton, and was dismissed on February 8, to his home here.
Mr. Mummey was born July 8, 1889, in Union County, a son of David and Sara Brown-Mummey. On November 8, 1909, he was united in marriage with Iva Benton, who survives.
The deceased was a farmer and in later life was employed for 15 years by Patton Brothers Dry Cleaning in Bellefontaine. He and his wife moved to Belle Center in November 1957, residing here about a year. They then moved back to Rushsylvania where they lived until February 7, when they moved into the Dr. Fred George house on North Center Street. They purchased the present home and moved in on May 16.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Nile Mummey of R. R. 1, Degraff and Clyde Mummey of R. R. 1, Rushsylvania; a daughter Mrs. Denton (Blanche) Steig of West Mansfield; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Ohair of Toledo, and Mrs. Glen Atha Miller of St. Louis, MO.
Proceeding him in death were three sons, Dahl Mummey, at the age of 42, Woodrow Mummey, 28, and Russell Mummey, in infancy; four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Ward, Mrs. Lucy Hemphill, Mollie and Grace Mummey; a half brother, Howard Snodgrass; and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock in the Kennedy Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. The Rev. Henry M. Lynd, pastor of the local Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be made in Wolk Creek Cemetery, Hardin County.
Friends may call at the funeral home this evening and until the hour of the funeral.

Obituary
Lloyd E. Benton, 46, died Saturday at his home in Zanesfield. He suffered a stroke of paralysis Thursday and never regained consciousness. He had not previously been ill.
Mr. Benton was born in Rushcreek Township, Logan County, August 19, 1999, son of Alvin and Catherine Benton. He was married to Thelma Ellis in Monroe, Mich., March 31, 1924, and they have spent practically their entire married lief in Bellefontaine and Logan county.
His wife survives, with the following sons and daughters; Wilbur Benton, stationed with the U. S. Army at Ft. Benjamin, Harrison, Ind., Ellen, Ralph, Clayton, Vernon and Rita, all at home. There remain also three sisters and one brother,
Funeral services were conducted at Bellefontaine, Tuesday and burial was made in the Bellefontaine cemetery.
